Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's expected for doubts to be raised about his future after another convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in 12 matches, representing the club's worst streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received plenty of backing from management,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to turn it around and earn three points obviously but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I sense the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager highlighted known shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a spell such as this with performances this poor.”

Jones stated, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as it is gone, we'll continue to fight.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to the top, prove again the values of this club and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it needs to change.”
